Junior Developers
This is an opportunity to join a team of the best and brightest developers working on social applications and products – we were bootstrapped up from two people in 2008, and now have almost a dozen employees and regular contractors. Our clients include the likes of The Economist, Swatch, Gumtree, ITV, and many big media agencies. We were the first company in the world, outside the US, to be chosen as one of Facebook’s Preferred Developers.
As a developer with us, you’ll get the chance to work across a range of exciting projects. One day you will be working on a high profile Facebook app campaign or social game for a blue chip client – to a tight deadline, but still exceeding expectations. The next you will be helping to build out our libraries and infrastructure to make future campaigns even more streamlined. Maybe the week after, you will be plugging a Facebook app into our new combined analytics and fan page management tool…
Every day, you’ll be working with others who will help you see, in a completely different light, the challenges of building on fast-moving social platforms – predominantly Facebook’s, but ultimately anywhere that people are being social on the web and beyond. In turn, we’ll be expecting you to challenge our existing thinking, and helping us build a successful dynamic team that works ten times better than any of us could on our own.
We’re not looking for anyone. We have a small, tight knit team, and we’re only looking for the best to join our ranks. We’re only accepting applications from developers who’ve proved themselves to have exceptional potential. In general, that requires as a minimum:
- A 2:1 or higher in a scientific degree from a top university.
- A website or application you can show us that you have built yourself, outside of paid work or education.
Deep technical knowledge or commercial experience is handy, although it’s much more important that you are someone with the ability to learn quickly and relentlessly. But it almost goes without saying that when you were two years old you programmed your nappy to change itself. You’ll love to build apps that people really use – not just academic programming; although we sometimes pause to think deep about the best way to build our infrastructure. We use the best tools for the occassion – right now we’re big on Python and Django, but if it doesn’t take us all the way to the moon we’ll just find something else.
We pay a competitive salary, buy lunch for everyone in the office, and pay your travel expenses. Depending on experience, there’s also the possibility of share options.
